Retrospective Appraisal Report Experts

Also known as a Date of Death Appraisal Report, a Probate Appraisal or Estate Appraisal, is an evaluation of a property's fair market value (FMV) on the date of the property owner's passing. This is a backdated appraisal that includes an analysis of a past date. It's often required for estate settlement, inheritance tax or probate, insurance claims, and financial planning.

We at Icono Financial Services, Inc., as a Certified General Real Estate appraiser licensed by the State of California, are able to provide you with this type of appraisal by assessing the property's condition, market conditions, and other relevant factors. This appraisal is a key component of the federal government's accounting of the estate's worth and can be used for:

  • Probate: Ensuring a fair distribution of assets
  • Estate or Inheritance taxes: Determining if taxes are owed on the property, calculating the amount due, and setting a new income tax basis for inheritors
  • Accounting purposes: Establishing the property's basis for tax and accounting purposes

Given the complexity and importance of retrospective appraisals, it is very important to work with knowledgeable and qualified professionals. Our expertise and experience of over 35 years ensures that the appraisal process is conducted accurately and professionally, providing you with the information you need for various legal, financial, and investment purposes.
